First edition, first printing of debut crime novel by Robert Galbraith, secretly written by J K Rowling. First book in a what is projected to be a long running crime series of at least 7 novels. The secrecy around J K Rowling's authorship was very tight at the publishers with only Rowling, her editor and agent knowing the true identity of the author, thus the print run for the first edition was very small indeed, reportedly as low as just 1500 copies! Therefore first editions of this title are quite possibly the rarest of all J K Rowling books, second only to Harry Potter and The Philosophers Stone. This is the true first edition with all the required identifying points—It is does not have any re-print statement on the copyright page, denoting its first print status. The jacket features 2 quotes by Mark Billingham and Alex Gray and contains a biography of Robert Galbraith that does not mention J K Rowling. A street lamp illustration is also present on the rear of the jacket. These three issue points are only present on first printings and this copy has all these points!
What makes this book stand out from all the rest is it has been signed in person by J. K. Rowling, using her pseudonym Robert Galbraith at the Harrogate Crime Festival 2014. It was a noteworthy event as it was her first public appearance as Robert Galbraith. The Goldsboro exclusive signed copies were signed to tip in title pages and do not bear the hologram. In contrast, This book was signed by J. K. Rowling in person and has the all important hologram. Probably only a handful of first printings of this title bear this hologram making them very desirable. In addition, the event ticket will be included as well as the festival programme.
